South African Sub-Region at a Glance

South Africa is southern most region of Africa with a long coastline that stretches more than 2500 kilometers. The South African is generally temperate climate, due to the fact that it's surrounded by the Atlantic and Indian Oceans on Three sides. The highest point of South Africa is Drakensberg at 3,408m (11,424 ft)

With a large agricultural area is a major net exporter of farming products. The commercial farming sector is well developed, but the people in rural areas still need to survive on subsistence agriculture. Such products as sugar, grapes, citrus, nectarines and deciduous fruits, and also wine, it is the eighth largest wine producer in the world.

South Africa contains some of the oldest and most beautiful archaeological sites in Africa. South Africa been affected by many other countries throughout history mostly because of early immigration from Europe and the important of the Cape Sea Route. Immigration started after the Dutch East India Company station at what we know now as Cape Town, in 1652
